James William Bewley, Jr.
Bill was born on June 25, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He grew up in Brown County Indiana and graduated from Van Buren High School. He worked at Detroit Diesel (Allison Transmission) for 33 years as a machine repairman and machine builder and was a member of UAW Local 933. Bill was a member of Light and Life Free Methodist Church where he served faithfully in many roles for 63 years. He was an avid softball player (fast pitcher) in his younger days and enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends. His family and church were the biggest parts of his life.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, June Bewley (Garloch); children, Sharen Newman (Duane), Karen Adcock (Rick), Marcia Leis (Greg), Jim Bewley (Ann), and Ron Bewley (Beverly). He had 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be at Light and Life Free Methodist Church in Avon, Indiana on Wednesday, June 13th from 4 pm to 8 pm. The funeral service is Thursday, June 14th at 11 am at the church. Donations can be made in his honor to Light and Life Free Methodist Church Building Fund.
